Affiliate Marketing: Choosing an Affiliate Program & Affiliate Competition

As an marketer, there are several mistakes I made when I first started marketing. The biggest mistake I made was believing the conversions vendors and other marketers claimed to have. Now, after experience, I know that many of these claims are hype.
After a few months of marketing with Clickbank products and promoting those products that had a high gravity score and were quite popular, I decided to go a different route because I did not find that these products made me money for several reasons. The main reason was that too many marketers were promoting these products. It was quite expensive to bid on relevant keywords in PPC search engine advertising and I wanted to keep my advertising costs low while enjoying decent conversion rates.
What I decided to do was focus on new products that I thought would sell based on my own impression of the landing page provided and what I thought would be the popularity of the product being sold. This new focus had a great effect. Both of the products and product categories had very few competitors and with little competition, I was able to garner a good portion of the market for these products.
